HavingwitnessedhisjunkiefatherkilledRussellStevensgrowsuptobecomeapolicemanandmakeadifference.WhenheisofferedanundercoverjobbyGeraldCarverheacceptsandbeginstobuildarelationshipwithDavidJasoninordertogettothemaindealers.Howeverasheisforcedtodealdrugsandkilltokeephiscoverhefindsthelinesbetweencopandcriminalbeinglost–isheacoppretendingtobeadealeroradealerpretendingtobeacop?Larry(ashewasthen)Fishburne'sfirstleadrolewasatypicallydarkvehicle.Thestoryistheusualoneofcoplosinghimselfwhenundercover,howeveritmanagestobemorethanthatformostofthetime.Co-writtenbyTolkin,whowroteThePlayer,thisnaturallyhasanicecynicaledgetoitwhenitlooksattheUS'shypocriticalapproachtodrugcontrolandthepoliticallinksbetweenthestreethustlersandthepoliticalhighrollerswhocourtrespectability.Thestorydoeseventuallysettleintoatraditionalsettingbuteventhenitworkswellasathriller.Themulti-talentedBillDukedirectswellwithagrittyfeelandafewnicetouches.Howeverseveralthingsareabitiffy.FormostofthefilmFishburne'snarration/voiceoverisabitlikeacrossbetweenApocalypseNowandBladeRunner–itcomesacrossasalittletoodarkandheavyandalsoexplainsthingslikewecan'tfigureitoutourselves.Howeveronceyougetintothefilmit'snotasbigadeal.Mymainproblemlieswiththecharacters.Fishburneisexcellent,arealmodelofunderlyingangerandviolence,GoldblumisgoodbutperhapsalittleOTTontheyuppie/violencething,butthere'sgoodsupportfromSmithandSpinCity'sbeautiful(andoftenunderused–butnothere)VictoriaDillard.Howeverthetwomainwhitecharacters(GoldblumandSmith)arebothsmearedwithracistinsinuations–Smithappearstoinsulthisblackofficersanddoesn'tcareaboutthejunkies,whileGoldblumisfascinatedaboutallthingsblackandtalksaboutthemaswildbeautifulbeastsandloveshavingsexwith"black'.Thesethingsaren'tamajorproblem,butwithbasicallyonlytwowhitecharactersinit,it'salittleworryingthatbotharegiventhatedge.Howevertheseareminorcomplaintsthatgetlostwithagoodthriller.FishburneexcelsandDukedeliversastorythatisagoodthrillerbutalsohasajaded,subversiveedge.

　　候睦（雪村 饰）是一名黑车司机，靠着这份不光彩的职业赚得的微薄收入养家糊口。候睦和珠子（俞晴 饰）结婚多年，虽然生活一直都徘徊在贫困线上下，但对于相爱的小两口来说，只要有彼此陪伴在身旁就是最大的心安。
　　某日，候睦在偶然之中捡到了一个神秘的古董，在好奇心的趋势之下，候睦将古董带回了家，殊不知，亦带回了巨大的灾难。候睦想将古董卖掉赚点外快，却发现根本就没有人想要此物，与此同时，候睦平静的生活开始渐渐变质，一连串科学无法解释的奇怪事件接连在他和珠子的周围发生，死亡的阴影无时不刻笼罩着他们。最终，珠子离家出走，候睦则踏上了寻找珠子和事件真相的旅途。

　　初中时代的长岛晴菜（大野いと 饰）一心专注社团训练，虽然所在球队取得了冠军，但是她的爱情经历完全为零。进入高中，这个少女决定改头换面，全心体验爱情的甜蜜。可是对于完全没有爱情经验和化妆品味的晴菜来说，爱情竟是如此困难的一件事。为了成功得到男朋友，她拜托帅气的学长小宫山叶（溝端淳平 饰）当她的爱情教练。独来独往的小宫山渐渐被晴菜的执著所打动，他终于同意帮助晴菜，但条件只有一个：绝对不允许喜欢上他。求爱心切的晴菜自然是满口答应。就这样，高校新人的爱情大作战缓缓地拉开了序幕……
